Nothing like a crash to get the day going. Literally 15 seconds after I stood up and was assessing the damage a guy took a selfie with me and my wreckage in the background. As I was walking home carrying my bike I heard “it works better when you ride it” from multiple chipper morning assholes. Some days I wish I hadn’t got out of bed.

Summer Sweat

We might see a break in the heat wave this weekend. The last week has been trying. It’s not really the heat; it’s the constant, unrelenting sweat. But we have beers that work in the heat.

Surfer’s Summer Ale is a wheaty ale brewed in the English tradition. Yes, they brew with wheat in England, too. Surfer’s has a round bready flavor from Golden Promise malt mixed with wheat. The Glacier hops add a refreshing, almost minty, herbal balance.

Now, if you’ll excuse me, I have to go mop my brow and pour another glass.

Summer breeze was more like a summer western wind coming up slightly from the south. It slowly crept from a steady 15 to a gusty 18mph and gradually moved to my back which gave a nice little push on my way home south through Dockweiler and Manhattan Beach. Nothing to complain about really, the wind was warm and it made for a good training ride.

Sometimes I just want to go fast and take chances. I’m old enough to have intimate knowledge about the consequences, but that knowledge only serves to disrupt my prime directive so I put it out of my mind.  I’m old enough to have become really good at putting it out of my mind…
